Course description: This course is a survey of literary genres including short stories, poetry, drama, novels and nonfiction. It will introduce students to the structure of literature while enhancing their reading, writing and grammar skills. It will also strengthen interpreting, analyzing, critical thinking, speaking and listening skills.
Teaching strategies: Lecture, class discussion, small group work, peer presentation, in-class writing and multi-media reinforcement.Evaluation methods: Daily work, attendance, in-class essays, peer presentations, quizzes, tests and written essays.Description of work done outside of class: Assigned readings, assigned writings and assigned presentations.Required texts: Prentice Hall Literature – Cooper series.
